EAD while asylum pending with BIA

I have my asylum pending with BIA and my attorney has said I can get a EAD for me and family so I have given him cashier's checks in favor of DHS of $420 each and I just wish to know how long will it take to get EAD cards. My attorney says you should get your bio-metrics and shortly your cards. Please give some info?
