EAD vs. H1 Pros and cons?

just wondering what the pros and cons of EAD vs. H1. I have my H1 approved last Oct, so I still have a few years left on it. now my lawyer is preparing my I485 application, I was told that EAD are normally applied in the same process together with AP.
EAD only have one year, so should I stay with my H1-B? I\'d appreciate any inputs.
