My 6 years of H1 will end in July 2008. I (and my wife) filed for AoS in August and have recieved our EAD. If I get my H1-B extended beyond 2008 (on the basis of non-availability of immigrant visas), will that H1-B be independent on the green card application? That is, if I-485 is denied for some reason, can I still continue working on that H1-B? Or is the H1-B cancelled when I-485 is denied? People that I have talked to have given different responses to this question.
I am content with my current job and am not planning to change employer in near future. So using EAD is not a high priority for me. However, if conditions imposed on H1 extension are same as those on EAD (cancellation on denial of I-485), I might as well use EAD.
Thanks in advance for your response.

I-485 filed in August
I-485 reciept and EAD received in November
