EAD versus H1b

Hi,

Can someone summarize, what are the advantages/disadvantages of having EAD card versus having a H1B visa?
I heard for example that the 180 day rule (for I485) applies only to EAD card holders and not H1B visa holders. I am not quite sure if this is the case.

Since 180 day regulations have not been published yet,
it\'s impossible to compare the two at the moment. In
general, however, EAD allows you to work on extra jobs,
but you need to renew it every year. H1, on the other
hand, retricts you to work on that particular job only.
You can bring on spouse as H4 while on H1. If on EAD,
your spouse will have hard time getting a visa overseas.
There are other issues involved, but these are all I
can think of right now.
