EAD versus AP Approval

Is there any correlation between the two? From what I saw on this forum, everyone got their AP approval before the EAD approval. For me and my wife, the EAD was approved in 45 days, but AP is not approved yet. My wife's AP had an LUD recently but no LUDs in my AP case until now. Is this normal?
