EAD to H4

To come back from EAD to H4 do we have to leave the country? My attorney says don't need to leave the country as long as H4 is valid.

Tricky question.
Assuming that you were on H4 before and that you used your EAD for working, you've lost your H4 status and now you're in AOS, pending result of the I-485 application.
I don't see how you can "go back" to H4 status and give up your EAD.
Just curious, why would you want to do that?
