EAD staying in india

HI,
I am on EAD( no h1b) since Dec 2007 and i would like to stay in india for 4 months.Is it ok to stay in india for this much time period.Legally how long i can stay india for a maximum period of time.

If i apply h1b and with out me stamping can i send my wife for h4 stamping in india.
