Hi

I got my EAD and expecting GC approval decision some time in March 2003. I have valid H1 till Jan 2004.
I got married in Sep 2002 and my wife came to USA on her company L1 visa. We are sending application for her EAD/GC in couple of days and expecting Receipt notice in a week.
My question is
If she had to resign her job now and her employer decides to cancel the L1 visa
1) Does EAD/485 Receipt notice ensures her status? or she has to receive EAD in hand?
OR
2) Do I need to apply for her H4 because I have H1?
what is the best option if loses her L1 visa?

EAD and 485 are two different issues

Your wife can STAY legally in the US as soon as she files her I-485. However, she needs EAD to WORK legally. She can file 485 and application for EAD at the same time, but she has to wait till her EAD is approved to be able to work.
485 receipt allows her to stay legally in the US without any other nonimmigrant visa or status.
H-4 holder is not allowed to work as far as I know.
