EAD renewal - please clarify....

Is it possible to renew EAD a week before it's expiration at the local center (I live in Columbus, OH - so I have to go to Cinci) ?

Only Boston was allowing walk-in renewal of EADs. I dont know whether they are still doing it. No other INS office gives EAD for walk-ins. They ask you to apply at VSC.
