EAD Renewal - Please advise!

Hi All,

My EAD expires on 12/02/02. My I-485 receipt date is 10/01/01.
As I understand, one needs to apply EAD renewal 90 days prior to expiration of current EAD. Couple of quetions:

1) Is it really taking so long?
2) Since October cases are being approved already for some lucky ones, should I wait for some time before applying for renewal of EAD? If so, how long can I wait?
3) My wife's EAD also expires on the same day. She doesn't have any plans to work for some time to come, so unnecessary to apply for EAD. If she doesn't apply for renewal, what will be her status after current EAD expires?

Based on my experience with VSC, better be conservative.
Apply for EAD around 100 days before expiry. You never know how the VSC is going to process documents. I heard people say
now that you get EAD in 2 weeks. When I applied last dec, it took 45 days. If your wife not working she does not need EAD.
The status is Adjustment applicant once you file 485 whether
you have EAd or not, PArole or Not. These are needed
for working/reentry to US only.
 
I renewed my EAD on July 31 and got the new card within 2 weeks.
Btw, When you renew your EAD, send the original sheet in which your current EAD was attached when you received it- This will speed up your process.
