EAD Renewal: How long can I wait?

My EAD-2 expires Dec 2004.

I have replyed to an RFE and my F2 is scheduled for August 10th.

I wanted to wait till August end for approval and then apply for EAD renewal, if I do not get approved by then. This will be around 3 1/2 months prior to EAD expiry.

Is it OK to do so? Do I need the new EAD card in my hand before old EAD expires?

Apply at least 120 days before the expiry date. By the end of the 90 days you will eligible to obtain Interim one. you may get your GC before that. But think EAD as Insurance and apply.

I would suggest you to apply for EAD renewal now itself. It's better to apply 5 months in advance. Another advantage is that if you apply now, your EAD file might be touched after 2 months and you will have a very high chances of I485 approval along with the EAD approval .
