My case was transfered from NSC to fairfax office . I visited the fairfax office and requested for a change of address and asked for my file to be transfered to baltimore office. The officer at fairfax office told me that he will transfer the file to baltimore office in 2 weeks . After 4 weeks I visited the baltimore office and still my file was not transfered.

I recently applied for my EAD renewal from NSC by efiling. What are my options now?

Thanks

Do not worry now, transfer may take several months.
Service center will probably transfer your EAD application to a local one, if you filed using new address - to Baltimore, then baltimore will call you for EAD interview and you will get EAD same day. If there will be a delay, you just go to baltimore (make infopass), show your EAD receipt and they should issie you interim EAD (after 90 days). You must show your MD drivers license at Baltimore office.

Compass your response gives me great relief. The reason I asked this questions was becuase I was under the doubt if baltimore will approve my EAD application even if my I-485 file is physically not there. The officer at fairfax office told me that he is requesting a transfer of my file and it should take 2 weeks to be transfered. That's why I visited the baltimore office to check if they have the file after 4 weeks.

Can someone on this forum please confirm if he or she had the same case and his EAD application was approved without the I-485 file physically being there. I have to make a job change decision depdending on this. The new company that is giving me an offer can't sponser any h1 and I have to make sure that once my EAD is due for renewal I will not be in a soupe because of this whole address changes and file transfer mess.

Thanks a lot!!

addidional EAD info

From my recent experience with Baltimore office EAD, they want you to make infopass for EAD, check DL, and then look at your receipt and in the computer (maybe), if you have more than 90 days after EAD recpt, they supposed to give you interim EAD.
In my case, I came when over 90 days but in their computer my EAD application was approved (not pending) so they refused interim EAD (see my fromer posts) but I got regular EAD next week, backdated about 2 weeks back.
They actually did not wonder where is my file...and for EAD it was maybe 100 people coming to get it ar certain day and they processed everybody within 2 hours...
So if you will have problems transferring, your EAD will be pending and not approved and you should get your card. And if approved, you can make a promose with employer (I know it is sometimes not possible, they always want original card) and show the card later.
Actually I am not sure what they will do if your file will be not there and they find out, but from my experience it looks like they just look at the EAD receipt (issued by Service Center). lets hope for the best!
