EAD renew at Philadelphia INS office

Hi,

anyone recently renewed their EADs at Philadelphia INS office? How long does it take to get the approval after I-765 is filed? They are not offering the same day service any more. The IIO told me that it may take up to 90 days? Is 90-day the theoretical time or is common practice now in Philadelphia INS office? How soon will I receive the pick-up notice after I file the renewal application? And How soon will the pick-up date be after the pick-up notice is issued (any time or a specific date is assigned after the notice)?

Philly INS IIO told me ...

Lat week I went to philly INS for renewing my EAD but IIO told me that I should renew my EAD in VSC only. Because I have the pending application there I can't do it in this office. I don't agree with her answer but no other way for me. So I am going to apply in VSC next week.

The IIO was wierd because I was feeling like she didn't know what is she talking about. She didn't even bothor to talk to me even for a minute for all the time I spent standing in the queue.
 
my case was transfered to Philadelphia, so I was able to renew my EAD there. just don't know how long it will take. I know a friend renewed his EAD from VSC, and got approval in about a month or so, so it is not bad to renew it from VSC

uti, See the I-765 form it clearly says that it should be filed in the same office where I-485 is pending( if I -485 is pending anywhere)....if it doesn't get approve in 90 days from there then you can go to local office.
So it doesn't matter whether you agree with his answer or not this is the law
 
My friend got EAD renewed from Local office

Thanks for the reply. I was trying it out because one of my friend in Denvar, Colorado got his EAD renwal same day. So I was thinking it should work out with philly as well.
 
I know that local offices have power to renew your EAD and many local offices do that but techincally you are supposed to apply only where I-485 is pending and if they deny then only you can go to local office and at that time they would defintiely give you the EAD same day

hey gcwait000 so far I haven't heard anything and certainly not RFE......It still says "Fingerprint received on Feb 6, 2002, processing resumed........".......Since my case is a dependent caes and my wife's (primary applicant )has already been approved and even gotten her plastic card , I don't have to worry for an RFE on account of pay-stub, salary,job-change or even marraige certficate as we were married in US court ,but there may be an RFE on medical, photo , birthday afidavits or there may be a question why me and my wife lived seprately when my application(I-485) was filed after 2 months of her(although we are together now)

My RD is 22nd October, 2001

Meanwhile I applied for EAD renewal which was received by INS on 28th October, 2001 and so far they haven't sent any acknowledgement...nor the check has been encashed. My EAD expires on 30th Jan, 2003
