EAD receipt notice

I had mailed my EAD (renewal) application 3 weeks ago on 5/12. I put the apps for myself and my son in the same envelope. While my son received his receipt notice dated 5/19 on 5/23, I am yet to receive my reciept. I received the receipt notice for my AP app on 5/23, dated 5/19, which app I had mailed separately on 5/16.

The EAD receipt has not been sent to my new or old lawyer either.

Should I write a letter to USCIS asking for the receipt to be sent ?

Thanks.

All you need is EAD receipt number to track the case , right ?

If so, you may get it from back side of the check cashed by USCIS. Check the copy of check from your bank and get the receipt number and later on you may call USCIS to get a copy using that receipt number in case if you don't receive it.

Good luck

Many times the back side of the check is not clear. Nothing much can be done then. When I applied for my last EAD renewal, the back side of the check was barely readable. Had to wait for paper receipt which luckily I received in just 4 days

Dear Marias and Desiladka.

Thanks for the responses. My bank does not send us the checks anymore. I will go to the bank today and ask them if they can give me this check alone. I will also send a letter to them for what it is worth.

Plot thickens

Well, before I headed for the bank I checked my account history for the exact date check was encashed. Guess what, the check has not been encashed. The ones for my son's EAD and my AP have been both cleared on May 23, but no sight of my EAD check. I had sent 2 separate checks for me and my son with our respecticve applications. I had also mentioned the separate checks in the cover letter. Think they dropped the check to the floor or something ? Now what do I do ? I know that they send the entire application back if there is no check. Happened to us once in which case we genuinely had forgotten to include the check. They sent the stuff back after 3 weeks.

Oh, well, this is fun. My current EAD expires on this 14th. I guess I will just have to do voluntary work without pay for a few months.

Sugee,

You can call USCIS call center 30 days after your mailing the application, if you still haven't received the receipt notice. The call center will transfer your call to USCIS Service Center, where you will actually speak with a USCIS officer. He/she can pull out your file based on your A# and find the status of your EAD renewal case, and give you the EAC number which you can use to track the case later on.

That's what I did once, and it worked.

Good luck!

Circa,

Thank you !!

But they have not cashed my check at all. So they have not 'received' the app so far. What can I do ? Should I send a letter asking them about the application and check ? Or should I send a fresh application ?

Thanks.

Called the 1-800 line for USCIS. Spoke to a rep who took details and transferred me to an officer, who in turn took all details and finally said he will pass on the info to the Vermont Center and that I should hear from them within the next 30 days !!

BTW, I found the photocopy of the check I sent. OK, beat me up, I did not fill up the amount in words, it is there only in figure. Is this the reason why my app is being held up ?
