EAD question

My wife's EAD expires July 20. We have sent in the renewal Application as of today. So I guess I expect a receipt notice of about a week from now. Which will mean around Apr 22, and going by current trend, there is no way the renewed EAD will be with us before the expiry. Now my question is, while the EAD renewal is pending, is it allowed to continue working based on the application/receipt? Please give detailed response.

as for your Q answer is NO. u've to have a valid EAD to work.
