EAD or SSN first?

I-485 is pending. I am going to apply for EAD for my wife (H4).
However, I heard she should apply for SSN first. Then she can apply
for EAD. Anyone has similar experience? Thanks a lot.

You need to apply for EAD first. Having a SSN or not has nothing to do with applying for EAD. I don't exactly know if the SS office will issue SSN based on 485 pending or if it needs EAD also, but USCIS does not require SSN for approving EAD.
