EAD or No EAD for H1s

Please share your thoughts whether to have EADs or not for H1s.

From the information that I gathered, having and using EAD cancles H4 but has no effect on H1. Is it true?

Its pretty obvious to have EAD for H4s.
But, Is it neceesary to have EAD for H1s? What advantages are there?

One argument I heard is, once the current company lays you off, even before completion of 6 months after applying I-485 (No AC-21), you can still work elase with EAD. Is it true?

Another argument is one can work Parttime (provided that doesn't conflict your company rules) without any effect on current status. Is it true?

I do have 3 years extension on my H1B (I am 7th year on H1-B) and don't want to shrink that to 1 year EAD validities, if that EAD might never been needed!!

I am in a similar situation - I would say that EAD is not needed if your job/company are stable... In other situations might be better...

I don't know about my case - My company is not doing so well right now and I'm scared that they might go under in the next 12 months --- I think I probably would be the last person laid off, so I'm not scared about getting laid off, but scared about the company going under before I get my greencard... In that case I think that CP might be better for me, no?
