EAD not issued at local offices from Jan 1st

Hey, looks like we can no longer go to the local INS office to obtain the EAD. I did not apply for EAD when I filed my 485. Now, I would like to get the card. What are the different routes

1) shortest in time?
2) safest

Additionally, can we go to Nebraska personnally to get one in couple of days. Is that possible
