EAD messed up by USCIS

My friend got EAD cards for himself and his wife.
Problem is USCIS screwed up and mixed photos on the EADs.
Details are correct for each but his photo is on her card and her's is on his card.
1. Has anyone had this/heard of this kind of messup?
2. How can it be fixed quickly?
3. what are the possible effects of this on the final green card?
4. Can they work on EAD elsewhere while the fix is pending at USCIS?

Yes, there are options...

...the fastest and easiest for both would be to pull out that make-up kit and use these reversed EAD cards (though the wife- in this case the husband, will have to answer for a light beard growth at the end of each day).

Jokes aside, while this is not too common, it is certainly only one of many screw-ups that happen at USCIS.

2. The fastest way to fix it would be contact Customer Service at USCIS, ask to speak to a Supervisor or Immigration Officer and explain your situation. Then, mail them copies of both EAD's with copies of application forms (original submissions-hope you made copies). Also, write a cover letter explaining the screw-up and request expedited processing of new cards. After that, just wait...

3. This should have ZERO bearing on pending or future Green card processing. Those are separate applications and even if they were not, this is a fault of USCIS and candidates will not be punished for it.

4. I believe they may be able to explain to an employer that they are wife/husband and have this problem happen to them; that they have evidence (copy of cover letter to USCIS and proof of original submissions) that they are trying to remedy the problem with USCIS. My guess is that an employer should not make a huge deal out of it, unless they are too timid and fearful.
