EAD for L2 visa holder

Hi,

My husband is currently on L1 visa and will be travelling to US in couple of months.

By going through couple of other threads, I understood that EAD cannot be applied from India as I have to give fingerprints. But I would like to know if I can apply for EAD from India and travel to US when I get a call for fingerprints.

Can someone please tell me how much time it will take to get a call for fingerprint reading after I apply for EAD?

Thanks in advance,
Sudha

This is my understanding of applying for the EAD ..

You will need to sumbit a copy of both the front and back of your I-94 for the EAD proving your arrival in and status in the USA. The I-94 is the card you fill in on the aircraft before you land in the USA, and give to the the immigration official. The immigration official will detach part of it, and stamp it, and give that to you.

Obviously that can only be done after you land and are admitted to the USA.

You can submit an EAD application by mail, but you have to be in the USA first.
