Hello,

my EAD is expiring on 7/10/07. I am applying for Renewal today. But current processing times shows that it will take around 6 months to get EAD.

If I dont get my EAD, what are my Options? I dont have H1 and I am using EAD since 3 years.

1. Do I have to leave my Company?

2. can I stay with my company without getting paid?

3. Can I still keep health benefits?

4. Can I stay in USA without working and no job until i get my EAD?

How long you think USCIs will approve EAD as mine is Renewal not new application?

Please respond.. my fingers crossed

Other than sympathize and share my woes - I will not be of much help.

Current EAD expires 6/17/2007.
Receipt for EAD renewal 4/12/2007 - so far no updates/LUDs
No H1B.

Q1 & Q2
Resp: Unpaid leave is one option.

Q3:
Resp: switch to COBRA or alternate provider and then back to regular. Based on your relationship with your company - you can work out other options.

Q4:
Resp: EAD is only a work permit. Yes, one should be able to stay in US in such cases so long as one has the I-485 petition is not denied. Even if denied there are some other alternatives, but an attorney will be able to answer best to this one.

Apart from what is suggested,
You can Fax/Fedex Expedite Request to the CIS.
This has worked for me.

Good Luck!

Pratham fax?

Can you please share the FAX nos and Mailing address - if you had filed for TSC, I know I can use it as mine is at TSC. If a different one, others on the list would be thankful.

Thanks.

EAD Renewal

Hi Jambalakadi,
There is no need to panic. You can contact your senator's office with a request to expedite the EAD renewal. You may also submit a letter from your current employer demanding your EAD document, along with your expedited request to INS. You can send a letter to the INS with a request to expedite the EAD process as there is considerable financial loss. There are lot of posts on this topic in this forum (including a letter template for expedited request). Make a search and act fast.

Good Luck!
GJ
