EAD expires next week , Can I continue to work?

My EAD expires next week and already applied for renewal(EAD is not yet approved). According to AVM my I-485 case has been approved on July 19th but I have not received the approval notice. Can I continue to work even after EAD expires?

According to the phone conversation with an IIO a few days back, in theory, you should either have an approved EAD card in hand or have your passport stamped to continue work because your employer is supposed to check the working eligibility after your first card expired. Pratically I am not sure if you chose to work and your employer says nothing.

According to my lawyer, if you already applied for a new EAD, you are fine. Once you receive it (if you still need it) there would be no gap between the time your old EAD expired and a new one started.
