I filed online and the whole experience was a breeze. Although, mine was 2nd EAD(renewal), I do not anticipate it to be any different for first time filers.
1) What docs should I carry with me
a. Reciept of your Renewal application and fees paid.
b. Copy and original of your I-485 application receipt notice.
c. A photo ID. ( passport, DL, existing EAD...)
d. Your current EAD if renewing
e. Copy of your EAD renewal application.
2) Is there any documents I have to mail to INS
They ask you to mail a copy of the above docs, I did not - I had no problems. I did not feel it was necessary as they had all the information they needed about me. Again, to be on the safe side you may want to mail them. You never know!
