I arrived here in July 2007 on H4 visa. Within a month of my stay here, I had applied for EAD, AP and I 485 along with my husband. We received our EADs towards the end of October, but I was not fortunate to begin work. USCIS made an error in my Country of Birth(Born in UAE, printed on card as India). Having sent my Birth certificates along with a translated version, I had no luck getting a correct document in the first place.
We were told to re-apply for corrected EAD asap after contacting them. by mid November, my application had been posted but we haven't heard back from USCIS since then.We were also asked to return back the original card. I received my AP in the meanwhile which was again printed with the wrong country of birth
We asked our lawyers to expedite the EAD case, which was done in Jan but still no response , and this friday, 29 Feb we even took an appointment with InfoPass to check my EAD status and request for an Interim EAD. They told us they dont see my re-filing in the system at all ! After over 150 days and 2 applications, this is what I get to hear. Completely upset, we called up the USCIS customer service and now they have given reference numbers to follow up and again given a time period of 45 days.....I just cant believe I have waited so much, while my friends who came along with me are already working....how can things be just so unfair on me?
Has anyone at all gone thru such a case? Do you have any suggestions as to what other step I can take in the meanwhile to get a case consideration?
