EAD - Chicago office -any one experienced

hi,

After approval of I-140, we filed for I-485/AP/EAD in Sept.2002
We are from India.

I got my EAD and AP from Nebraska in Dec-02.

My wife and kids applications are still pending at Nebraska.

Its more than 200 days now. I want to info about getting them at the local office at Chicago.

Any body experience with Chicago office procedures?

I tried calling chicago office, but everytime it went on answering machine. left my name and number. Nobody returned our calls so far. I hate to stand in the lines at 4 am just to be informed that they are not issuing iEAD's on that day.

Please share your experinces. They are very valuable.

As my EAD was pending for about 180 days I decided to go to the BCIS office at 10 W jackson for applying my iEAD. Though I had carried all my documents they just took a copy of my I765 receipt notice and a I765 form duly filled in and took a look at my drivers. license.

try to be there by 6:00 am. they start letting people go in around 7:00 am . you have to proceed to the 2nd floor and wait in a queue that takes you to the information line. Please take in a duly filled in I765 form. The immigration officers are really nice . you can ask them any question and they will only be more than happy to go all the way out to help you.

In my case she saw the date on the receipt notice and wrote 'over 90 days' on a blank form which i was asked to fill. after which she asked me to go to the EAD and defered inspection section and place the 2 docs. I 765 Rcpt notice and this form whcih she gave me for filling in the tray marked WALk-IN EAD. Then I had to wait for 2 hours during which time an officer took my form inside and did a background check and other checks as applicable. she then asked me to submit my I 765 filled form and called me for finger printing my index finger after which I was photographed and I recd. my EAD. no need to take photos with you.

ALSO thee told me as my AP was filed in Nebraska They will not be in a position to help me with that. though my spouse has all the docs. EAD/AP etc.
