EAD Check pay to BCIS?

The downloaded form still says that check payable to INS?
Should it be payable to BCIS?
I am preparing for renewal my EAD expired on Aug10?
Will it be sooner than applying the new one?

I mailed my EAD renewal on April 6, and received the receipt notice today. My EAD will be expired on August 2. So I don't know whether it is better to apply earlier or not.
 
EAD -

1. Copy of I-485 receipt
2. Photocopies of current EAD (front and back)
3. Photocopies of last I-94 (front and back)
4. Two BCIS style photographs (Name/A# on back)
5. Renewal stub from letter the current EAD came in
6. Check
7. Covering letter.

AP -

1. Photocopy of I-485 receipt
2. Covering letter.
3. Check
4. (Optional) Photocopies of current AP
5. There maybe other optional items.
[ I sent just 1 & 2 and it was approved pretty fast ]

I put July 2003 because in my covering letter I mentioned I wanted to visit India during that period.

If you are applying for "Advance Parole" then yes. This form is used for other documents too.

question of EAD renewal for ssb

ssb,
do I need to send all the documents to my attorney for the
EAD renewal (for my wife, I am still using H1) or can I do it
ourselves? What do I need to say in the cover letter?

Can we do EAD renewal ourselves instead of going back to the lawyer. Like SSb told that we need the following documents,

EAD -

Yes, special photographs are required for AP, EAD & 485. The details about photographs could be found at http://www.immihelp.com/. Click on Adjust of Status(I-485) and then click on Immigration Photographs and you will see the details.

One of the member in this forum got RFE because his/her photos were not per BCIS direction.

Its better to have AP even if you did not use in the first year of your 485 stage and you might use it during the 2nd year.

Technically you can apply for EAD/AP yourself and it is not too difficult a process. But again if you have faith in your lawyer you can have your lawyer do it too. One advantage of doing it through your lawyer is that he/she will probably handle any complications if they arise, better. Unfortunately, I could not trust my lawyer's knowledge or efficiency based on her past performance so I elected to do these renewals myself.

I made two packages, one for EAD renewals (my and wife) and one for AP renewals (again me and wife). These are to be mailed to different addresses. The covering letter for EAD renewal was a simple request to renew the EAD since the current one was expiring. In the covering letter for AP I mentioned that I would like to visit family in July and would like to be in a position to travel at short notice since my fathers health is failing (which in fact is true). Also included contact information, A#s etc.

You said that AP and EAD renewal documents will go to two different addresses. Why is it so? I wrote a single check payble to BCIS for both AP & EAD and gave it to my lawyer.
 
According to BCIS information the PO Box numbers that AP and EAD apps/renewals need to be sent to are different. That is the reason I made two packages. I also sent separate checks for all apps (4 in all) so that I could get the LIN numbers from the cancelled checks if I needed to.

If your AP/EAD apps are accompanying your I-485 then the whole packet can be sent to a single PO Box number.

I do not know how strictly the destination address POBox numbers are followed. In all probability it should not matter, but it is always better to follow the instructions as closely as possible.

I seem to recollect reading somewhere that a single check for all applications is acceptable as are separate checks. But do not hold me to it - better to verify yourself or with your lawyer.

In EAD form (I-765) it says that If your response to question 16 is (c)(9), file your application at the same local INS office or Service Center where you submitted your adjustment application.

I am applying for EAD and AP extension so my lawyer is sending both the renewal documents to same Nebrasaka center.

So I guess I am confused as to where you saw 2 different addresses. There is no address mentioned on I-131 (AP) form.

Please advise.

Both applications go to Lincoln Nebraska. The only difference is in the POBox numbers.
AP: P.O. Box 87131, Lincoln, NE 68501-7131
EAD: P.O. Box 87765, Lincoln, NE 68501-7765

I suspect physically these are in the same location and maybe even the same box. I guess the different numbers are to facilitate categorizing and/or further work routing.
