Sorry for the simple questions...

What does an EAD card do for you?

Can you change jobs in any field or job type after you get the EAD?

How long does it take now to get an EAD? I have heard its 2-3 months...

Best way to check how long it takes is to look at the website https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp.

I think the Employment Authorization cases are handed off to the local service center. You will need to select one that applies to you and see their current dates.
