EAD Card Renewal

Hi Guys,
Can we go to the local INS center to get our EAD Card renewed?
Any idea how long it would take as against us going thro the lawyer?

u have to apply to VSC

After Sept 11 attack local INS offices (espescially Newark office) are not taking EAD renewal. My friend has to apply to VSC last week as newark office did not accept it. Moreover his EAD was expiring by this month end.
