EAD approved.... is it ok if i accept additional work?

Recently (sept'05) I have received EAD and AP through my employment (I-485). Applied I-485 in June' 05. I want to stay with current employer but Is that Ok if I accept part-time work in the same field? My employer thinks I can't?
If i can accept -- could you help me in finding information on USCIS (home land) sites so I can assure my self and my employer.

Thx in advance

Actually, the part time work you do on an EAD does not have to be related to your profession. You could go work at McDonalds if that's what you wanted to do.

While I was on an EAD, I continued to work for my employer and started a part time business. (Unrelated to what I do for my employer). My GC has since been approved without incident.

As mentioned, if you are using an H1 with your current employer, you will lose your H1 status if you use your EAD. You would have to switch to the EAD with your current employer. (Simply fill out a new I-9 for your employer).

So the "key" is filling out I-9 form ;) . I went online to check form I-9 (http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-9.htm). At the bottom of the form it says that "EMPLOYERS MUST RETAIN COMPLETED FORM I-9. PLEASE DO NOT MAIL COMPLETED FORM I-9 TO ICE OR USCIS"

Does that mean, employer just keeps this form for their record?

Correct. The I-9 form is for your employer. If the Department Of Labor ever checks, it's the employers proof that they have checked the work eligibility of all their employees.
