EAD by myself

Hey gurus,
Can I file for my EAD renewal directly without sending the documents to the lawyer? Is that a problem?

RD 10-25-01
ND 12-03-01
EAD expires 12-02
VSC, EB2

Yes you can. It is really very simple. Just download the form I-765 from the INS website and follow instructions. Or you can also call them up and ask the automated system to send you the required forms. I filed all my applications myself and so far had no problems at all. Good Luck.

but the lawyer is on ins record

That's is the only question. It was the lawyer who filed the initial ead, 485 etc. I was wondering if it is ok to bypass the lawyer and file directly.

Even I have the same question. Did your attorney send some G-28 or G21 (blue form) when you are filing I-485, last year? My attorney did send it in August 2001 along with other documentation with my signature on it. The meaning of that form is that he is representing me for AOS...something like this.

My company is not willing to apply one for me.Giving me a reason that I have valid H1 till 2003 and hence not good to apply for EAd at this crucial period. I do not know why is this "crucial" used by them? But my company applied EAD for my wife and are also ready to renew it now.

Last year I got EAd from the local INS which my company do not know about it and I also did not use it till today which is expiring this November. But this time I am also having the same question as you whether I can apply myself. But worried how that blue form(G28 ..etc.) will impact the process. My details are Rd-08/15, Nd-10/11 and Fp-12/27 and process resumed on 18th jan.

I guess some people who applied by themselves or having their own attorney, would not have applied AOS with that blue form.

Any views are welcome on this issue. Thank you. I have been trying to get the answer in different postings but I guess there is no one who applied this way.

The laywer's role is only limited to help you prepare the forms. If I prepare the forms for you, I also need to fill up the blue forms etc. Did your lawyer provide you professional advices? I don't think so. In my case, my EAD got a mispelled name on it. My lawyer told me if I want it corrected, I need to cancel this one, and start a new application all over again, it would take 3-4 months. The fact is, after I called INS, I receive a new correct EAD in 5 days. From then on, I don't trust the so-called lawyer anymore. I think most of us are more knowledgable than the lawyers, so we can do it ourself, even though we pay $120 ourself. I am going to renew it in a couple of days. SO, bypessing the lawyers is a fast and efficient way.
BTW, why you want to bypass the laywer? In my case, I don't trust them.
