EAD application transfered to local office

JUst learned that my EAD renewal application was transfered to local office. Did this happen often? Can I still apply for an iEAD at the local office, or I need to wait? How long does it take to hear from local office? Any info is greatly appreciated.

EAD renewal was filed in 01/2003
