Do we get a receipt from the INS when we apply for EAD ? My EAD was not filed with the I-485 (which is over 230 days now). I applied for EAD on 6/5/01. Am I suppose to get a receipt and how long does it take ?

Yes, you are supposed to get a receipt for EAD. Lately INS has been taking a while to issue receipts.
