Probably your visa stamp (i.e. the paper stamp in your passport) is expired, and not your L1 visa itself. Please note that your visa stamp is nothing more than a travel document. Ultimately it is the officer at the Point of Entry who decides that allow entry to the US and for how long. That's why your I-94 is valid till Aug 2006. You should have no problem getting her EAD card.
