EAD AP Questions

Hi,
My H1 B extension expires in 2009. If I apply for EAD and get it will my H1B will no longer be Valid. I am still with the same employer who filed my Green Card and intend to be with them but I want to apply for EAD in case at any point of time I need it. Can I continue working with the same employer on H1B and just have an EAD too and not use it and keep renewing it? If I get AP will my H1B be valid?

Any help from All you Forum Gurus out there will be appreciated.

There is a debate as to the validity of the H1B once you used your EAD/AP.

But your H1 is absolutely safe if you do not use EAD/AP. Merely applying and receiving them is harmless to your H1B status.
