Why only 2 years. An interim GC with a comment pending final approval is the way to go.
BCIS should check the validity of the documents at the date and time of submission of I485.
By approving people at different time frames , they are discriminating case by case.
This will eliminate all EAD and AP renewals.
Will this happen ? I do not think so.
They are receiving so many checks for renewals. Additional source of the budget and job security..

Have you signed our petition to BCIS to reduce I-485 backlogs?
One of our suggestions is "Eliminate need for EAD and Advance Parole renewal for employment based cases. Instead of renewing every year, these can be given until a decision has been made on the pending I-485 petition."
This is better than 2 year validation. As many cases take more than 22 months, they would have to file EAD and AP renewal after 21 months if EAD and AP are valid for 2 years.

Anything short of citizenship will have an expiry date. Even GC has a renewal date. Then how can one can have an interim GC without a renewal date. Think, if the GC is approved then there is no problem for BCIS regarding the interim GC, but if there is a problem then the BCIS would have to hunt the person down with an interim GC. Moreover, EAD and AP would not become obselete in the near future as BCIS is a bureaucratic organization. Therefore, the minimum that can be done is to increase the duration of EAD and AP. Noboby likes to shell out checks every year for these except BCIS.
