EAD/AP at boston local INS

Hi all,
I have filed for 485 and got the receipt. I was wondering if local INS at boston is still giving new EAD/AP (not renewals) in a case like mine. There have been several threads but I was not sure they provided complete information on the issue for newbies like me.

I would request everyone to share the best they know about the following issues:

1. Is local INS at boston issueing new EADs/AP?

2. I understand that they may not give same day EADs/AP like before. Are they atleast taking applications for approvals within 30days (like some reports say).

3. For anyone who knows about recent approvals, please tell if it is a renewal or a new approval.

Boston INS has stopped issuing EAD/AP. According to a new circular sent by INS, effective 5th Feb,2003 if your I-485
application is pending, you should apply for EAD/AP only with that INS service center.
 
I got renew card at 01/24/03

I got my renew EAD card the same day. The only change is
the application fee to $88 for EAD.
 
I think Boston office is still issuing the EAD/AP (new/renewal) the same day, if you manage to reach there early in the morning. I am not sure about pattekiasha's reply. If you want, you can call INS National Customer Service center @1-800-375-5283 and choose for local center and then Boston. After that choice, automated message will tell you that which forms Boston Center will accept and also tell you which forms will be processed the same day. You can also talk to somebody if you want.

I had checked the INS hotline about the EAD/AP renewal and was told that it will be done the same day. However when I reached INS office on Feb 7th, I was told that they have stopped issuing EAD/AP effective Feb 5th. I was told to send the materials to INS, VSC.
My lawyer had told me about this but I wanted to try my luck and
therefore went to INS, Boston. If you want to try your luck, please go ahead, but don't be surprised if you are turned away.
