EAD, AP and H1

All, I have applied EAD and AP. My question is:
1. Is H1 invalidated on my applying for EAD or actully using EAD?
2. Does AP invalidate my H1 visa too?
3. Currently how long should I expect FP in TSC after filing the application (I just filed it last month)?

Thanks for clearing up so many questions. I see from the website that using EAD means filing an I-9 form with employer. What about starting a small side business ?. How does EAD come into play here ?.
