Hi Immigration Gurus
My wife recently got her EAD approved. Since she has a SSN card which says "Not valid for employment", she will have to goto a SSN office
for amendment. My question is after I-485 approval, does she need to visit the SSN office to get any further amendments.

Thanks in advance

3 types of Social Security Cards

There are 3 types of SSC, 1 -- the one your wife has. 2- One with statement "Valid for emploment with INS authorization" This is for those with H1,L1, EAD etc. 3- With no remarks at all - for citizens & GC holders. The number remains same in all 3 cases but if you want to work you need to have at least the 2nd type but then you will have to show the EAD, H1 etc. Best is to have the third category.

am i in trouble? ;-)

I have a card that I got while I was in school. I think it says "not valid for employment". I moved to H1 after school but never got the other card. I never even knew about it. Am I in trouble now?

I just card my EAD card yesterday and I was thinking of continuing on
H1 for some time. So, if I want to go get the new SSN card, should I be able to just get one based on my H1 visa?

Any input is greatly appreciated.
