Does applying for EAD while working for sponsor company on H1-B trigger RFE when file is reviewed by officer?

Yes, especially when your case is very close to approval. The IIO will doubt if you are still working. BTW, why do you want to do this while you still have your H-1B?

I won't use EAD, as H1-B is valid enough time to cover GC process hopefuly. Lawyer suggested to get EAD in case something happened. A friend is in similar situation but is losing job soon, so he's looking at his options. I searched this site but couldn't get more info on subject.

NO I don't think filing for EAD would trigger a RFE on 485.

Lots of people have applied for EAD at varied times(initially and later also) and nobody atleast to my knowledge have said a similar thing.

From what I understand EAD petition is separate from 485 petition.It need not be kept in a single file.

It is allways good to have EAD incase something happens on the job front.You never know these days when economy is not good.
