EAD and H-1

Hi Folks,
Those of you with experience in changing from H-1 to EAD, please respond.

I and my wife have been on H-1B (each of us has own H-1) My spouse has pending I-140, we applied for I-485 as well as EAD and AP.

What Do I and my wife need to do when we receive EAD ??
What are the consequences if I continue with my present H-1 ?

The reason why I am sking is: My HR filed for H-1 extension for me at the same time my wife's I-485 along with EAD applications for both of us are filed. Is this a potential problem ??

I understand from the posts here that I have to talk to HR and have them change some papers work ?? is that right ?
Please advise me....

no problem at all

you can have both, there is no problem. there are two things
having it and using it.

You can have and at the same continue with H1

If you use, logically speaking you need to have AP with you.
You can request your employer to cancel your H1 and use EAD. In this way u can save some time left over on your H1. In case some thing bad happend to your GC petition then you can reinstate your H1 and start your GC process over and over.


If you are confident just have it don't use it. But there is no way for INS to find out on what you are working more importanly if you are converting from H1 to EAD.
