Gurus,

Need help.

I am trying to renew my AP and EAD on my own. can I do it on line? where can I find detail instructions and documentation required?

Thanks!

AP (you have to file it by mail no e-file so far)

http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-131.htm

EAD you can do it on line
http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/e-i-765.htm

Go to the link above and Click on I-765 (E-Filing) at the bottom of the page.
Follow the instruction carefully and don’t forget to save the pdf file when you finished. This will be your receipt and you should take it with you to the local office for FP and picture.

If you have copy of your last EAD application form that will help you to complete the form

I sent I-485 receipt copy, passport (first page) or driver license if you have.
Copy of your recent EAD and the mailer you got from BCIS with with you last EAD.

I don't know if you need to send any supporting document but I sent it anyway.

Hope this will help

Regards,

Thanks wwossen,

Evenif it is renewal, you still have to go for FP? Do you need to take appt. for that at the local office?

Yes

You need to book an app for FP and Picture for your new EAD after you finished the application process. You have to call the number on your instruction that you will get on the notice. I got app on the next day and it only take 5 minutes. DON'T FORGET TO SAVE THE RECIPT ( PDF FORMAT). In that receipt notice you will get the address where to send your supporting documents and the number to call for FP and picture appointment.

Guys, I am in the process of renewing my wife's EAD and the online thing is so cool. It just takes 15 to 20 mnts at the most to fill the form and yes, as already noted make sure that you save the final form as a PDF and print it out.

Steps involved:

1. Get online, file the form online, print the form
2. Call the number given on the printed form to schedule an appointment for finger printing and photographs(even renewal have to do finger printing if you decide to file online form). Usually you will get the appointment the very next day.
3. Go to your local office(Or whereever you scheduled the appt) and have your finger printing done and photographed.
4. Send the supporting documents on mail to the address on the receipt - this includes the receipt, current EAD, i-485 receipt notice and EAD mailer(if you happen to have it).
5. Start the waiting game..... I heard USCIS has become a bit better at EAD these days.... So don't be surprized if the game comes to an end with in a month to 5 weeks.

Good luck everyone.
