does the new EAD start from expiry date on the old one or its new issue date?

I got my EAD yesterday, EAD StartDate is from Date Of approval to ONE year.
Not like before which use to start from enddate of previous EAD to 0ne year.
Why and when is this changed?
EAD paper file RD: 2/9/05 and AD 4/4/05

All the new renew EAD's have the start date as the date they are approved and valid for 1 yr . i think its disadvantage for the people who are working on EAD's as they have to apply at least 4 months before ( seeing the trend few got approved in April 2005 when filed in Jan 2005 ) it expire and in the process they may need to apply every 8-9 months .
