EAD and AP pick up question

Gurus,

I have been eventually notified to pick up my EAD and AP at San Jose office. Is it a really just a pick up or some kind of interview? Since I cannot make on the appointment date, I have to go without an appointment. Do you think I will have trouble?

I will greatly appreciate it if someone could share his/her experience with such pickups. Also, advice on walking into San Jose office without appointment is highly appreciated.

How come you applied directly to San Jose office?
