EAD and AP Gurus, See whether you can help me...

My AP expires on 7th Jan 2002 and EAD on 9th Feb 2002.
My H1B expires on 9th Jan. My passport is not yet stamped.
My attorney is about to apply for the AP and EAD extension at Vermont INS.
My 485 is pending(ND: 12/19/2000) and it would be approved anytime.
I am planning to visit India during the last week of December for 4 weeks. Will I get my AP before the last week of Dec? Or Can I go to the consulate in India to get a stamping for 1 month and enter the USA without problems?

I am in a great dilemma. I need this vacation otherwise I don\'t know when I will be getting another one. My parents are eagerly waiting to see their new grandchildren.

Any help? Can I go to the local INS to apply for the AP? Will it help getting the AP very fast?

(My attorney looks villain to me. Not the INS. He delayed the 485 filing by 2 months. Otherwise I would be a GC holder by this time.)

Try local INS

Try local INS anyway, it won\'t harm anything. Some local INS can give you AP in one day, especially for your AP extention.
