E2 visa to Green Card questions...

Hi,

I am currently in US working with an E2 visa. My company is willing to sponsor for my green card application but will not pay for it. The company has an out side immigration law office, so they will introduce me to them and file all paper work.

Here are my questions:

1. How much will the entire process cost? From talking to the lawyers, filing in the petitions, and other expense. I know the cost despends on the law firms, but around how much. Will it be thousands of dollars, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousand dollars?

2. How much time will it take? From the time or date of filing to the actual date of recieving the green card. I hear anywhere from 1 to 5 years or even more. What are some typical durations.

Regards.

Most firms charge around $6,000 for the entire green card process plus advertising fees and other expenses. Without knowing which country you are from it is hard for me to say how long the process will take. It can take up to 5 years or more from certain countries. It also depends on whether you are applying under the EB-2 or EB-3 category. You should check the Current Visa Bulletin for up to date processing times for your home country: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html.
