E2 Spouse work permit

Once the E2 visa is approved, Does the E2 spouse needs to apply for their work authorization separately or do they get it impromptu with the E2 status?

E1/E2/E3 spouse status is authorized to work incident to status (i.e. without an EAD). If you have an I-94 that says "E2S", that is proof of work authorization for the I-9 when you start work.

You mean Change of Status? When a Change of Status is approved, you receive an I-797A approval notice, which will have a new I-94 as part of the page.
