E2 Spouse - I140 Green Card

Hi everyone, I am currently an E2 spouse (status from USCIS) expires March 2009. I also have a work permit. My employer is sponsoring me for Permanent Resdency and my PERM was approved back in September last year. Now that we successfully have our E2 status for a couple of years my employer is going to file my I140. I just wanted to know if anyone can give me some feedback that I am doing things in the correct procedure -ie E2 first and then apply for I140. I have an 15 month wait for visa availability but still gives me plenty of time before the E2 expires. Thanks!!
 
Everything sounds fine with your approach. however it is my understanding that a PERM approval is only good for 180 days. That is you must file I-140 within 180 days of the PERM approval.

Hi and thanks for replying! I think the 180 day expiration starts from the new ruling on 17th July 2007.
