E2 EAC Employment Authorization Card - Biometrics

Hi all

I am an E2 spouse previously a J2 spouse with an EAC, when I changed to E2 status a applied for a new EAC as the previous one expired. I have been asked to go to my local USCIS office for a Biometrics appointment - anyone had any experience of this??? I wondered why I had not been called before or maybe this is a new thing?
