E-file blunder!

Guys,

The e-file form to apply for a renewal AP kept on insisting that I go back and fix "suggested" errors when I could not find any, so in the process it confused me big time and accidentally I "may" have entered Country of Birth as US instead of India. It did not show that information anywhere again and had me certify it.

Then, when the final document printed, I was shocked to see this blunder. Knowing USCIS, they will try to screw me for this...what are my options? Request to cancel this one, file a new form, salvage this one?

Any thoughts? Please advise...this retrogression delay may have taken it's toll on my brains...

On a lighter note, what a blunder ! USCIS might get confused and instead of GC they might send you a US passport instead.

Dont Panic. They also understand such mistakes happen. Still to calm your mind confirm with your attorney.

Call Service Center

Call 800 number and ask them to correct the Typo error. They will fix it immediately. I printed my last name as first name and first name as last name. I called and asked them to correct. They did it.

yes...they had my name incorrect and after i faxed my service center...they corrected it and they resent the receipt

So, there's hope and no deportation in order! :)

Thanks for the replies. That was indeed funny BrainDrain :)

I'm assuming the number mentioned by anil007dc is 1800-375-5283 National Customer Serivce Center? I did call this no. few minutes after noticing the royal blunder but the auto system stated that no such receipt no. exists (maybe it was too soon to call).

In a previous post, I had raised another question regarding where to file for the AP (NSC or local district office) as my case had been transferred to the latter.

That question becomes moot I guess as E-filing seems to go to Lee's Summit in MO (at least that's where all supporting documentation is needed to be sent).

Well, much as I "hate" to deal with USCIS for anything, I guess it's time to re-engage with them lovely folks again...time to bring out the boxing gloves...
