DV2011 - validity of DV visa

Received my NL last week. My case number is in the 18xxx.
based on other's experience shared in the forum, It is reasonable to expect an appointment at the embassy around August 2011. So, supposing my interview at the embassy is successful and a visa is issued, I would expect to be able to fly to the US after that date.
My problem is that I cannot 'land' in the US before Jan 2012. Which raises the question: How long can I stall before the visa is void? In other words: From the day it is issued, for how long is DV immigration visa is valid? What is the deadline at which I should 'land' in the US?

This is a very important question that obviously needs an accurate answer. I would advise you to contact some immigration lawyers in the United States. If you call a few, you will probably be able to get an accurate answer at no cost. This is likely your best option, and I would suggest you do this instead of getting an answer off the internet or from a source whose reliability you cannot determine.
